Rainbow Festival Punctuality Challenge

Date: 4 September 2010

Start: 8h00 from the 4x4 Obstacle Course at the Rainbow Festival Site.

Entry fee: R150 per team (Driver and navigator)

Information:

The route will lead competitors through the plantations around Piet Retief, and it will be totally ‘vehicle friendly’. Should a challenging obstacle be encountered, there will be an easy detour. The choice is yours! Come in your new, shining 4x4, and all you’ll have to worry about is to have it thoroughly washed afterwards. 

Each team will receive a set of directions, and each instruction will have a given distance and average speed. There will be check points along the route where a marshal will check your traveling time in the completed section. Penalty points will be given should you arrive either early or late at the check point. That average speed instructions will have to be followed very carefully! 

Throughout the route, a number of interesting challenges will be encountered where you will get the opportunity to lose some of those penalty points. Can you handle a catapult as well as you can drive? Is your navigator skilled enough to get you through a marked section, while you are blindfolded? Have you ever tried playing pool with a rope? And then there is the see-saw, which might also be responsible for a few wet pants….  

While Mom and Dad’s navigational skilled will be tested up front, the kids will have a whole bunch of fun activities to keep them busy in the back. When last did they tried colouring in a picture in a vehicle moving on a bumpy road? How well do they notice things next to the road? And then there is the treasure hunt at the pitstop, the calculations needed to help Dad and Mom with the navigation, and then some….. No, you’ll have to come and look for yourself.

Rules:

•  All participating vehicles must be roadworthy.
•  All drivers must have a valid driving license.
•  Vehicles must have safety belts for all occupants, and it must be worn at all times.
•  No alcoholic beverages may be in participating vehicles at any time during the race.
•  Do not litter!
•  Anybody deemed guilty of misconduct or unsafe driving practise will immediately be disqualified.
•  DO NOT throw cigarette butts or matches out of your vehicles. Please remember that we are experiencing a very dry winter.  A single forest fire can cause millions of rands of damages, and you could face a law suit.
•  The organisers decisions will be final.

Please make sure that you do register before this date. Late registrations will incur an additional admin fee of R50.

Reënboogfees Stiptheidsuitdaging

Ter inligting:

Die Reënboogfees Stiptheidsuitdaging sal plaasvind in die plantasies om Piet Retief, en die roete is so uitgelê dat dit heeltemal ‘voertuigvriendelik’ sal wees. Wanneer daar wel ‘n uitdagende hindernis gaan opduik, sal ons sorg vir ‘n maklike ompad. Kom dus gerus maar in daardie blink nuwe 4x4, al wat hom gaan oorkom is ‘n stoflagie wat afgewas sal moet word. 

Elke span sal ‘n stel roete-aanwysings ontvang, en met elke instruksie sal daar ‘n afstand en gemiddelde spoed aangegee word. Elke nou en dan sal daar ‘n beampte opduik wat jou tyd sal nagaan, en die span sal dan gepenaliseer word wanneer hulle te vinnig of te stadig gery het. Intussen sal daar ook verskeie interessante aktiwiteite teëgekom word, waar daardie strafpunte minder gemaak sal kan word. Hopelik kan jy net so goed kettie skiet as wat jy kan bestuur, of jou navigator is goed genoeg om jou geblinddoek deur ‘n afgebakende roete te praat. Die wipplank kan dalk ‘n paar nat broeke tot gevolg hê, wie weet. En het jy al met ‘n tou probeer snoeker speel? 

Terwyl Pa en Ma se navigasievermoë getoets gaan word, sal die kinders hulle eie prettige uitdagings hê om hulle besig te hou agterin die voertuig. Het jy al probeer inkleur in ‘n voertuig wat op ‘n tweespoorpaadjie in die veld ry? En hoe goed let jy op wat langs die pad aangaan? Dan is daar ook nog die skattejag by die russtop, en die sommetjies wat gemaak moet word om vir Pa te help met sy bestuurstaak, en ook nog….. Nee wat, julle sal maar self moet kom kyk! 

Reëls:

•  Alle deelnemende voertuie moet padwaardig wees.
•  Bestuurders moet 'n geldige bestuurslisensie hê.
•  Die voertuig moet veiligheidsgordels hê vir al die insittendes.
•  Geen drank sal toegelaat word in deelnemende voertuie nie.
•  Moet asseblief nie rommel strooi nie.
•  Enigiemand wat hulself skuldig maak aan wangedrag of onveilige bestuurspraktyke, sal onmiddelik gediskwalifiseer word.
•  Moet asseblief nie sigaretstompies by die venster uitgooi nie. Onthou dat ons 'n besondere droë winter beleef. 'n Enkele bosbrand kan miljoene rande se skade veroorsaak, en jy kan in 'n hofgeding beland.
•  Die organiseerders se besluite is finaal.

Registrasie Afsnydatum: 31 Augustus 2010
Maak asseblief seker dat jy voor die bogenoemde datum registreer. 'n Admin fooi van R50 sal gehef word vir laat registrasies.
